Dive Guide– The first step on your professional career or for those who do not wish to progress on a professional diving career, then the top of the recreational diving ladder.  Dive Guide teaches you how to take care of certified divers above and below water.  During the course you will learn to independently plan and lead certified divers underwater.  For those who wish, you also learn how to teach and certify Snorkel Divers once you become certified as a Snorkelling Instructor.

The course covers three elements: academics, practical and open water sessions.  The academics are completed on line using the SSI Online training materials so you can learn at a time convenient to you and at your pace.  We then review academics with you in the Dive Centre and cover practical sessions both in the class room and confined water where you learn key skills before progressing to your open water sessions.

DiveMaster– The next step on your professional career is DiveMaster.  This can be achieved by becoming certified as a Dive Guide and then successfully completing Science of Diving which gives you the key knowledge you need on Physics, Physiology, Decompression Theory, Aquatic Environment and Diving Equipment.  As a DiveMaster you can take care of certified divers above and below water and assist in training programs under the direct supervision of an Instructor.  

The full course (Dive Guide and Science of Diving together) covers three elements: academics, practical and open water sessions.  The academics are completed on line using the SSI Online training materials so you can learn at a time convenient to you and at your pace.  We then review academics with you in the Dive Centre and cover practical sessions both in the class room and confined water where you learn key skills before progressing to your open water sessions.

Dive Control Specialist – The next step on your professional career after DiveMaster is Dive Control Specialist where motivated dive professionals learn how to share their passion for diving by learning to teach and assist Instructors.  This program teaches you how to teach and take responsibility for others and is an essential step for those who wish to become an SSI Open Water Instructor.  As a Dive Control Specialist you can independently teach and certify: Try Scuba, Perfect Buoyancy, Scuba Skills Update, and under the indirect supervision of an Instructor the academic and pool sessions of Open Water Diver (with the exception of the emergency skills).  

The full course covers three elements: academics, practical and open water sessions.  The academics are completed on line using the SSI Online training materials so you can learn at a time convenient to you and at your pace.  We then review academics with you in the Dive Centre and cover practical sessions both in the class room and confined water where you learn key skills before progressing to your open water sessions.  This course can be structured over 3 weekends or 5 days.

Training Specialist –As a Dive Control Specialist you can qualify and independently teach and certify specific speciality programs in accordance with SSI training standards.  This includes: Boat Diving, Equipment Techniques, Navigation, Perfect Buoyancy, Photo and Video, Science of Diving, Shark Diving, Waves, Tides and Currents.  A great step towards SSI Instructor.

Open Water Instructor – The most important step in your Dive Professional career after Dive Control Specialist is to become a person who can train new divers; that is the Open Water Instructor, which is achieved via the Instructor Training Course.  As an SSI Open Water Instructor your career is an unlimited adventure.  You will be able to independently teach and certify: Scuba Diver, Indoor Diver, Open Water Diver, Advanced Adventurer, Enriched Air Nitrox, Dive Stress and Rescue and the Dive Guide programs.  

This is an eight day course covering: academics, practical, confined water and open water elements.  Prior to the course you will be sent materials to study plus completing study online using SSI Online training materials so you can learn at a time convenient to you and at your pace.  You will also be sent assignments to complete in advance of the course.  Following the ITC you will attend an Instructor Evaluation and be independently assessed in all aspects over two days.

Speciality Instructor –As an Instructor you can qualify by attending Speciality Instructor Seminars or co-teaching Specialities with a qualified instructors.  If you already hold 2 Specialities as a Training Specialist you will automatically be upgraded to Speciality Instructor.  Specality Instructors can teach and certify speciality programs for which they hold the relevant Specaility Instructor rating.  

Dive Professional Crossover - if you currently hold a rating from another recognised agency and can see the "Limitless SSI Possibilities" then there is a simplified crossover system for Recreational, Technical and Freediving Professionals.  The crossover recognises that you already know how to train divers and is designed to familiarise you with the SSI Total Teaching System and the difference in our water teaching skills.  The ratings you currently hold with your other recognised agency will be matched one to one with SSI ratings.
